Gianni R. Lorello (he/him) is a staff anesthesiologist at University Health Network - Toronto Western Hospital and was just promoted to Associate Professor at the University of Toronto. He was the inaugural Chair of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion for the Department of Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine at the University of Toronto and Chair of the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee at the Canadian Anesthesiologists’ Society (CAS). He is currently the 2SLGBTQIA+ Health Theme Lead for the MD Program at the University of Toronto and a Clinician-Educator at the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. He is a Cross-Appointed Researcher at the Wilson Centre and an Adjunct Scientist at the Women’s College Research Institute. He is currently a Health Professions Education Research PhD candidate at the Institute of Health Policy, Management, and Evaluation, University of Toronto, learning critical social theory. Through his research, Gianni aspires to start illuminating and describing ruling relations that organize sex and gender minority physicians while taking an intersectional lens.
