Transforming Together: A Blueprint for Queer and Trans Inclusive Practices in the Anti-Violence Sector
This interactive e-learning curriculum was developed by Salal Sexual Violence Support Centre in collaboration with the trans-LINK Canada Network. It draws on Salal's five-year Meaningful Inclusion Project, which explored what it takes to build affirming and responsive anti-violence services through research, reflection, and collaboration with Two-Spirit, trans, non-binary, and gender-diverse survivors, community members, and service providers.
Designed as an accessible starting point for individuals and organizations, the curriculum invites learners to explore the foundations of meaningful inclusion and consider how organizational practices, systems, and assumptions shape survivors' experiences of accessing support.
Through interactive scenarios, reflection activities, and practical examples, learners are encouraged to examine their own roles in advancing inclusion, navigating harm, building accountability, and contributing to organizational change.
The curriculum is open to board members, organizational leaders, frontline staff, volunteers, and others interested in strengthening queer and trans inclusion within anti-violence services. It can be completed individually or used to support broader organizational learning and discussion.
The curriculum is free-of-charge and self-paced. Learners can save their reflections, revisit sections, and return to the material as their learning evolves. While sections can be revisited independently, completing the curriculum sequentially is recommended to support the learning experience.
