Sommer Bousquet

Sommer Bousquet (she/they) is a 2Spirit person living on Treaty 1 territory, currently working at 2Spirit Manitoba Inc. Sommer’s work centres on policy and legislation, where they advocate for the rights and well-being of 2SLGBTQIA+ community members. In their role, they also lead the 2Spirit Land, creating and nurturing a safe and inclusive space where community members can participate in cultural ceremonies and reconnect with traditional practices.
A survivor of domestic violence, Sommer is deeply committed to addressing gender-based violence (GBV) and works tirelessly to amplify the voices and experiences of those affected. They are also an advocate for safer workplaces, focusing on the prevention of violence and harassment across diverse employment sectors.
Sommer brings a diverse professional background to their advocacy work, having worked in construction and economic development before moving into the non-profit sector. They hold a Project Management Institute (PMI) certification and have a background in business administration, which equips them with strong skills in strategic planning, project coordination, and organizational leadership.
Through their work, Sommer strives to build bridges between policy, community, and cultural resurgence, ensuring that 2Spirit and 2SLGBTQIA+ perspectives are included and valued in decision-making spaces. They are passionate about creating systemic change and fostering environments where all community members feel safe, respected, and empowered.
