My name is Sydney (pronouns Ney/Nem/Nir). I am a queer, transgender, non-binary, asexual person with a deep passion for social justice. In 2023, I published my first book, “A Pocket Guide to Pronouns”. I am also an avid reader and writer.

I am in the first year of my PhD studies in Gender, Sexuality & Women’s Studies at Western University, where my research looks at the importance of creative arts for trans and gender diverse folks. In August 2024, I completed a Masters of Arts in Social Justice & Community Engagement at Wilfrid Laurier University, where my research focused on the importance of representation of queerness within young adult fiction. Prior to this, I obtained a Bachelor of Music (Honours) and a Bachelor of Arts in Women & Gender Studies at the University of Windsor, along with a minor in Political Science.

I have worked and volunteered with various queer non-profit organizations for the last five years, though I have been involved in social justice activism for much longer. In 2022, I ran for City Council in the Windsor Ward 7 municipal election. I have served on numerous committees, clubs, and organizations dedicated to issues of gender and sexual justice, equity and diversity, housing, mental health, and youth voices. I am the Director and Founder of Rainbow Allyship, where I provide 2SLGBTQIA+ Allyship Training and Consultations.

A fun fact about me is that I have a cat named Natasha!
